Meet Samuel Whiskers: A Gentle Soul Blossoming with Confidence!

Samuel Whiskers- Young Adult Male: July 2024

Samuel Whiskers, or Sam for short, is a handsome black cat with a heart of gold (and a purr that matches!). Though a bit shy at first, this sweet boy is steadily blossoming into a loving companion.

Sam’s Journey:

  • Came to us as a scaredy-cat, preferring the quiet comfort under the couch.
  • Now shows interest in his feline housemates, even watching them explore the outdoors.
  • Recently formed a delightful friendship with a visiting puppy, proving his open heart.

Sam’s Sweet Side:

  • Slowly but surely coming out of his shell around humans.
  • Enjoys gentle head scratches and will even knead his paws (making biscuits!) in contentment.
  • Soft, black fur shines beautifully, and he maintains a slender, sleek figure.
  • Allows pick-up and cuddles – perfect for couch snuggles (with a little more time, he’ll warm up to your daughter too!).

He has begun to realize his love for humans. He will rub on me, climb on me, purr, and make biscuits. His fur is soft, black, & shiny and he is quite slender. A good eater too!

Foster Family

A Work in Progress:

  • Still adjusting to loud noises and sudden movements. Patience and gentle interaction are his love languages.
  • Blind in one eye, but this doesn’t hinder his adventurous spirit (though he’s learned to avoid the sliding glass door!).

He allows our whole family to pick him up and hold him. He now loves our 9yo daughter. We have just started to notice him playing with toys. He is still skittish if there are loud noises or quick movements, but he’s becoming more and more brave with each day.

Foster Family

Basics:

  • Estimated Birthday: May 2023
  • Coat: DSH, all black soft and shiny fur. Occasional white hairs.
  • Health: Sam has been neutered, microchipped, and given age-appropriate vaccines. He tested negative for FeLV and FIV. Regular vet visits are important to monitor Sam’s remaining eye health and address any issues promptly–and are recommended for all indoor and outdoor cats.
  • He is blind in his right eye. Cats with this condition do very well, A few small accommodations can make life a little easier for Sam.
    • Lower perches and ramps: Cats with one eye may have slightly impaired depth perception. Provide them with lower climbing structures and consider adding ramps to help them reach their favorite spots.
    • Stable environment: Avoid rearranging furniture frequently. Consistency allows your cat to navigate their surroundings with more confidence.
    • Clear walkways: Keep walkways clear of clutter to avoid them bumping into things.
    • Gentle play: Choose safe toys that won’t accidentally injure their remaining eye. Avoid sharp or pointed objects.
  • Good with respectful dogs and children. He is interested in the family cats, but is currently separated from them. We think he will be good with cats too.

The Perfect Match:

Sam would thrive in a calm, understanding home with someone who can appreciate his gentle nature. He’s a patient soul who just needs a little time and love to fully bloom.

Bonus! Sam’s a great eater, so mealtimes will be a breeze.
